XVII International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics in Russia

Kazan, Russian Federation

June 29 — July 3, 2009

Official site of Kazan

General information

The start of conferences on chemical thermodynamics in Russia dates back to 1961 and they are regularly organized once in two-three years since that time (but for the 1992 - 2001 big break that is a single exception). In a period before 1977 they were called "All-Union conferences on calorimetry”. Later on, for the period between 1979 and 1991 its title was changed for “All-Union conference on calorimetry and chemical thermodynamics”. And presently we call it “The International Conference On Chemical Thermodynamics In Russia”.

Every conference usually gathers up to 400 leading experts in various areas of chemical thermodynamics with up to 150 foreign scientists. These conferences are traditionally held in leading Russian scientific centers (including former USSR territory in Soviet time): six times in Moscow, three times in St.-Petersburg, twice in Tbilisi (before decay of USSR) and once in such cities as Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk , Nizhniy Novgorod, Ivanovo , Suzdal.

The choice of Kazan city as a place of the seventeenth international conference on chemical thermodynamics RCCT 2009 is not casual. Kazan is the large educational, scientific, and the petrochemical centre, located in the intersection of Europe and Asia. In Kazan the world famous chemical school presented by such names as K.K.Klaus, N.N.Zinin, A.M.Butlerov, V.V. Markovnikov, A.M.Zajtsev, F.M.Flavitsky, A.E.Arbuzov, B.A.Arbuzov, etc. is created.

The chief organizer of forthcoming conference is the Kazan state technological university (ĘSŇU). Its scientific research area roots in traditions of the Kazan chemical school and is subdivided into following trends:

- technologies of petrochemical manufactures

- technologies of synthetic rubber

- technologies of electrochemical processes

- technologies of organic and inorganic polymers

- mathematical modelling of chemical technology processes

- heat exchange and mass transfer

- chemistry of hetero-organic compounds

- theoretical chemistry

- special chemistry

Kazan is the largest educational centre of the Volga region, both the largest chemical and petrochemical centre of the European part of the Russia. Tatarstan maintains close contacts with countries of Western Europe, Asia and Arabian East. The invitation of leading experts in the field of chemical thermodynamics in Russia, the CIS and European countries to conference will provide a stimulus to development of the international cooperation in the field of a chemical sciences and higher education.

Holding of the international conference will give an opportunity to discuss at high scientific level a status both basic researches in the given field and applied perspectives, realized in chemical and petrochemical industry that will have the big scientific and practical value. Such kind of conference in Kazan will promote mutually advantageous information interchange between the countries of Europe, America and Asia, an exchange of experience between participants of conference, creation of joint international scientific projects.
